October Update

Treeti team at IVETS delegation and conference in Indonesia

The team at Treeti started October with a bang hosting the opening event for OBM with the Digital Expo, which was a big success.  This remained the theme for all of OBM with Treeti delivering on over 45 Digital workshops and interactive panel events.

On the 2nd October I travelled to Indonesia with Austrade and Study NT for the IVETS delegation and conference in Lombok and Jakarta.  The conference was well worth our time and the opportunity to network with the delegation was invaluable.  We spent quality time with Hon Selena Uibo, Member for Arnhem and NT organisations such as Top End Training (a division of GTNT), Alana Kay College, Charles Darwin University, Eagle Training Services, Site Skills Group, Department of Education RTO’s and delegation organizers DTBI.  It is very exciting that there has been historic signing and upcoming ratification of Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA).  Similar to a Free Trade Agreement this will open the doors for business leaders to place greater attention on opportunities in Trade and Investment and strengthened relationships between the two countries. Very timely visit to Indonesia to continue to build relationships and networks there for future business opportunities.

As we hurtle towards the end of the year our fabulous Treeti Team has been busy delivering services to NT businesses such as infrastructure for growth with private clients, empowering entrepreneurs through our EFS Program, building strong export foundations with our Austrade partner through Tradestart  and closing the gap between business and the digital revolution for the ASBAS program.

ASBAS - Australian Small Business Advisory Services

Mark Faulkner explaining the Tradstart program

Whilst you'd expect our eye to be on the OBM ball this past month, the ASBAS Digital Solutions program has grown once again! We welcome new advisors Nyree Slatter, Melissa Arthus, Aaron McMahon, and Sallianne Thompson to the stable of digital advisors, and are currently in the process of onboarding more new advisors specifically in the field of Cyber-security.

Speaking of Cyber-security, we are currently working alongside the Australian Industry & Defence Network NT (AIDNNT), Charles Darwin University and the Australian Cyber Security Centre to form a pathway for Territory small to medium enterprises to address their cyber-security vulnerabilities with subsidised assessments and advisory consultations which then provide a road forward towards accreditation for defence subcontracting, working with government contracts and being ready for Cyber Security Insurance compliance. This program is expected to be available from January 2020.

october business month 2019

With some 43 events hosted in Darwin, Alice Springs & Katherine in partnership with local businesses, ASBAS Digital Solutions Advisors and big names like Google and Facebook, October Business Month was a huge event for the whole team at Treeti.

Starting out with the NT Digital Expo, which Darwin embraced with an enthusiasm beyond our expectations, this was always going to be a big month. However, the enthusiasm across the Territory never waned and we constantly had to upgrade venues and capacity to accommodate sell-out workshops. Having assisted many other businesses with their events, it was a case of working in territory we knew well.

From the initial concept for the Expo and OBM program early in 2019 from Dante through to the execution by the whole Treeti team and management, October Business Month was a big success that we plan to replicate in 2020. Watch this space!

Reaching South

The NT Government recently hosted the “Reaching South – to the Territory” – event in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China lead by Chief Minister Michael Gunner, showcasing the Northern Territory to business and industry representatives, presenting a unique opportunity for delegates to connect with key business people and decision makers in the region.

Run in partnership with the Darwin Major Business group with around 50 Territory businesses and Industry Association representatives, the aim of the event was to match Northern Territory businesses with counterparts and potential partners from China including round tables and marketing promotion, with a highlight on agribusiness, tourism, energy and minerals, education and training, tropical health and research, transport freight and logistics.

On the 24th of October I was lucky enough to join in Reaching South in the Chinese city of Shenzhen. I was impressed firstly by the amount of NT companies that had gathered for the initial briefing in the Shangri-La Hotel and also by the interaction between NT companies and their Chinese counter-parts. The finale of the first day was a dinner held by the NT government which was very well attended by all involved and capped off a great day for all. The next couple of days were industry-related events and from my perspective were very well attended and poignant to the companies. These days showed many opportunities for cooperation’s and market expansion. In the end I believe the trip was a huge success and feel that many new opportunities will grow from this time spent in China.

Our Head of Digital, Dante St James is traveling with Facebook Australia to the drought-stricken western NSW towns of Warren and Coonamble in the coming week in support of the #buyfromthebush campaign. Started by Warren NSW local, Grace Brennan, the movement has attracted the support of Facebook & Instagram, whose platform has hosted the movement from its beginnings in Warren to the driver of very real and substantial economic activity to these regions that have lost much of their revenue due to the long-term dry conditions.

Dante will be representing Facebook's Community Trainer Network and leading local home-grown businesses through taking their products online, reaching new customers and using a range of free mobile apps in conjunction with Facebook & Instagram.

We're also thrilled to announce that Treeti's association with Facebook Australia, through Dante, has been renewed for 2020. We look forward to bringing more digital marketing insights and upskilling opportunities to our community this coming year.

September Update

My children Indira and Duke’s (not so little anymore) birthday is in September and every year I have the realization It’s a fast slide into the end of the year, and 2019 is no exception.

We have had a wonderful month with the final extensive preparation for
OBM and our NT Digital Expo which went off with a bang on Tuesday 1st October.  As the above picture depicts, we had so much fun rolling out the very well received digital workshops and informative sessions to NT small businesses.  We are so proud of our Dante St James and Sammie Wigg for organising such a successful event.  Big kudos to our ASBAS presenters and consultants who supported the event and delivered high quality digital advice to all the expo attendees.

New Staff Member

We also welcomed a new staff member Carly Hansen, Carly joins the team to be Megan’s and Lucy’s right hand person to deliver HR and Admin support to our private clients.  We continue our country theme as Carly joins us from Katherine, welcome to the Treeti family Carly and enjoy the comradery and fast pace.

While the team continue to roll out nearly 50 ASBAS and EFS events across OBM, I head to Indonesia with Austrade and Study NT for the IVETS delegation and conference in Lombok and Jakarta.  Our Export Advisor Mark Faulkner gets his first overseas hit out with Tradestart, visiting Shenzhen and Guangzhou China with Austrade and the NT Government for the Reaching South conference.

Busy October ahead, happy Business from all of us at Treeti Business Consulting.

ASBAS - Australian Small Business Advisory Services

September was another busy month for our ASBAS Digital Solutions program with a range of workshops and face to face consultations being run by our wonderful team of advisors.

We are now over half way into the delivery of the program and some of the results we are seeing from businesses who are engaged with the program are phenomenal. Their digital literacy and skill sets have grown exponentially and they are really taking charge, implementing new tools, tips and tricks that they are learning along the way.

If you would like to find out more about how your business can benefit from the program, head to www.asbasnt-treeti.com.au and check it out.

The inaugural NT Digital Expo was held on Tuesday 1st October 2019 at the Darwin Corporate Park.

The opening event for October Business Month began with a breakfast for NT Women in Business, delivered by our Managing Director, Claire Maradani sharing her story of how she became the technologically challenged leader of a digital disruptor organisation.

Following on from that we had a full day of interactive workshops and information sessions on all things Facebook, Instagram, Xero, Linkedin and Shopify. The day was extremely well received by the participants, with high levels of positive feedback coming in.

A huge well done to the ASBAS Team at Treeti, Dante St James & Sammie Wigg who worked tirelessly to put together the first Digital Expo, along with the rest of the Treeti Team. It is true, many hands makes light work, and the Treeti Team is continuing to show how they can work together as a well-oiled machine to deliver the suite of digital consulting services and events under the ASBAS Digital Solutions Program.

Celebrating Entrepreneurship Facilitator solutions program

It has been another busy month of activities with the Entrepreneurship Facilitator Solutions program. Our lead facilitator Megan and support advisor Sammie hosted a range of activities across the month of September, including our monthly recurring Ideation (Idea Generation) and Business Model Canvas Days. These days give participants of the EFS program a chance to get really clear on their business ideas and begin putting their business plans together.

In September, one of our EFS Clients, High End Pain Relief Cream, had the golden opportunity to pitch to a focus group of people about their product and business. This session proved to be absolutely invaluable to our clients, who were able to see their idea through the lens of their potential clients and has provided them with the feedback they needed to continue growing their business. We wrapped the months activities up with our second Mumpreneurs morning tea.

If you would like more information on the workshops or the program and services, please contact our EFS Facilitator - Megan Holzfeind to RSVP your attendance today: [email protected].

Treeti Business Consulting 10th Year

I am on a flight to Sydney writing this Directors note for our very first Treeti Business Consulting Newsletter – heading to an Austrade Conference. Treeti is 10 years young and has be delivering business coaching and training services to the Northern Territory for the past six years.

We Relocated!

We relocated to Darwin Corporate Park four years ago and haven’t looked back, recently securing three Commonwealth contracts and increasing our services, support and reach for our private clients.

The first of the three commonwealth contracts is the ASBAS Digital Solutions Program. The team at Treeti has been delivering Workshops, Webinars and 1 on 1 Advisory Services for businesses across the NT. The four streams we have been tasked to address are websites and selling online, social media and digital marketing, small business software, and cyber security and data privacy. The second of our recent successful commonwealth contract bids is the Entrepreneur Facilitators Program (EFS), where Treeti is supporting budding entrepreneurs to start their own business and existing small business owners with coaching and mentoring. The program has an over 45 years old focus and can support coaching and facilitating a new business across all industries and sectors. The third being the highly coveted TradeStart program with Austrade, where Treeti will provide facilitation, mentoring and coaching for businesses who are currently or would like to export their services or goods overseas. Needless to say, our ever-growing Treeti team has been very busy and very productive lately.

Exciting Upcoming Events

There are some exciting events on the Treeti calendar for the NT. Territory Taste Festival at the Darwin Cruise Terminal at the Waterfront was on last weekend, the 25th and 26th May. We were excited to showcase our ASBAS Digital Solutions Program and EFS Program. Including running a prize draw for any new ASBAS or EFS clients who registered for the program. The first prize was a holiday for two to Bali, including flights and accommodation at the stunning Clove Tree Villas, winners to be announced this weekend.

There are some ‘save the date’s too. Treeti is joining forces with NBN Co to do a Digital Workshop Road Trip up the track from Alice Springs to Darwin from the 8th to the 12th of July, coming to a town near you. Save the date as well for our Digital Acceleration Expo in October as part of OBM…..stay tuned for more details about these events and more.

Welcome to August

As August 2019 Draws to a Close

As August 2019 draws to a close, we can reflect on another exciting and fast-paced month.  We welcomed 2 new staff members to our Treeti family, Olivia Evans as our new Receptionist (that makes 3 Country Queenslanders in the team, myself from Chinchilla, Suse Forrest from Longreach and Olivia from Cunnamulla) and Mark Faulkner as our much-awaited Export Advisor for our Tradestart contract.  Mark is originally a Darwin boy and has been living in China for 9 years with his family, returning to start his new career as an Export Advisor with Tradestart, partnering with Treeti and Austrade.

To Accomodate Our Growing Team

To accommodate our growing team, we have moved from building 2, to building 3, level 1, just above the Territory Business Centre. Big thanks to Cecilia Quek at Darwin Corporate Park for co-ordinating the fit-out, and a special shout out to all the Treeti team continuing to do an awesome job whilst working around the chaos of  limited meeting rooms, dodging builders, painters, electricians etc etc. The end result is amazing and we look forward to welcoming everyone to our new place of business.

As the above picture depicts, Treeti enjoyed another year attending the Darwin Corporate Park Race Day at the Darwin Turf Club Carnival.  We had a lot of fun and look forward to supporting this event again next year.

3 New Clients

We also welcomed 3 new clients to the Treeti family; the lovely Angel and Jamie from Mudkrabba, Caitlin and Daniel from DJ Air and Electrics, and Craig from RMI Security. These are all fabulous NT based businesses and we look forward to supporting them through the growth process, exciting times ahead for these 3 businesses.

So as we prepare for another busy September, I would like to stop and reflect on our year thus far and say how grateful I am to have such a fabulous team, great consultants, awesome clients and wonderful partners.  We are truly privileged to be able to contribute to the business community at this level.

Till next month, happy business from all of us at Treeti Business Consulting.

Welcome to Treeti

Welcome Back

Welcome back to our new monthly Newsletter packed full of exciting projects we've been working on and general happenings from around the office.

Peter Styles and Claire representing the NT at the recent Australian China Business Council

What a Month!

To give you an indication, I was on 9 flights in June alone. Our exciting business travels took us to Sydney, Canberra, Denpasar, Jakarta, Alice Springs and Gold Coast and eventually back to Darwin.

I attended the Tradestart conference in Sydney with the fabulous Belinda Hayes and Jenny Graham from Austrade, where we got to do a deeper dive into export strategy for the NT and how we are going to deliver for NT Businesses in the export arena.  Treeti is excited to be working with Joel Smouha and Sammi Hosseini and the Darwin Austrade team.

The same week I was fortunate to be invited to attend the Australian China Business Council (ACBC) conference in Canberra where Peter Styles (former Federal Minister Trade and Investment) and I represented the NT at the annual Canberra Networking Day.  Peter and I really enjoyed the conference speakers and came away with some great ideas to implement and new contacts to follow up for NT businesses in the China market.

Off to Jakarta

Rose Felice and I were off to Jakarta via Bali as the guest of Australian Indonesian Business Council (AIBC) President Linda Reeves.  We had three (3) days of meetings with Ministers from Economic Affairs, Department of Small Business and Hotel, Restaurant and Employee Associations.  All in all, a very productive and worthwhile visit to Indonesia cementing relationships for further business down the track.

Looking Forward to another of Supporting Business

Big shout out to Dante St James and Jack Cameron who did a fabulous job with Jill Bottrall and Cassie Norton on the NBNCo and Treeti Road Trip from Alice to Darwin speaking with NT businesses along the way about all things digital and broadband connectivity this month.

So, as we kick off into the next financial year we start to hit our stride with all our programs and private clients, ramping up for a big finish to end of the year.  From the team at Treeti we look forward to another month of supporting businesses in the Northern Territory
